What's Happening in Dublin this weekend (December 1st) - Free Events

We’re rounded up five cool things happening this week in Dublin for Free!

Hey, we are back with another week of events! This is a very busy week for me, I hope you have some nice things planned. We’re finally on the run in to Christmas, and I for one am very excited about the few markets and events happening :)

We’ve got 5 cool things to do in Dublin this weekend!

  • Public Tours of the Hugh Lane Gallery

  • The Women of Sheriff Street

  • Dublin Winter Lights

  • Richmond Barracks Christmas Fair

  • First Fridays at MoLI

Public Tours of the Hugh Lane Gallery

Sunday - 2.15pm - Hugh Lane Gallery

If you haven't managed to grab a ticket to the Andy Warhol exhibition, the Hugh Lane offer a free tour around their permanent exhibitions each Sunday.

The tour will include some aspects of Andy Warhol's work, but will not cover anything from the Three TImes Out temporary exhibition. A visit to the Hugh lane is a perfect opportunity to view some magnificent pieces of work from renowned artists.

I love the pieces from Harry Clarke's stained glass in the Municipal gallery. The piece illustrates “John Keats’ the Eve of St. Agnes”. Clarke’s stained glass is most notably of religious works, so this piece is one of few outside a church.

There's no need to book, just arrive around 2pm on Sunday to the reception.

The Women of Sheriff Street

Now until the 15th of December - Central Bank of Ireland - 10 - 4pm

Tara Kearns, in collaboration with Five Lamps arts festival presents a beautiful exhibition of paintings that are inspired by her native Sheriff Street.

This love letter to the women who grew up and lived in the area opens in the Central Bank today, and expresses each persons individual experience of the area growing up.

Tara has a passionate love for her people and her area, this is evident to see in her creative masterpieces. Entrance is free between 10am and 4pm until the 15th of December.
