Irish Birds in Watercolour

Central Bank of Ireland - Free - 10am to 4pm

Tony McNally, from the northside of Dublin, was born before the city's growth overwhelmed the surrounding fields, streams and ponds. He became attached to the wildlife there, which later influenced his career in environmental science.

Drawing was a constant practice, and 40 years ago, under the guidance of Jerry Marjoram, he began painting seriously. His pieces, mostly of Ireland, but also made from his African and Canadian adventures, have been displayed in galleries, auctions, and commissions. This exhibition is his first solo show.

Dublin Arts and Human Rights Festival

Now until Sunday 22^nd October - Various Locations

Dublin Arts and Human Rights Festival celebrates the people who stand up for human rights and explores the role the arts can play in creating a more just world.

This fifth annual festival brings together artists and speakers from around the globe and across Ireland, featuring innovative events in Dublin, Kerry, Donegal and Cork. Human rights defenders both past and present will be featured, demonstrating the positive impact the arts can have in promoting equality, human rights, and diversity.

Freude! Freude!

The Dougas Hyde Gallery - Now until 29th October - Multiple Shows

The Douglas Hyde Gallery of Contemporary Art is thrilled to feature an exquisite work by world-renowned performance artist Amanda Coogan, alongside Deaf artists Lianne Quigley and Alvean Jones with Dublin Theatre of the Deaf (DTD), the Cork Deaf Community Choir, and students from Trinity College Dublin's Centre for Deaf Studies (CDS).

Entitled Freude! Freude!, this live exhibition and installation turns Ludwig van Beethoven's Ode to Joy into a captivating visual and aural symphony, reinterpreted through the lens of the Deaf experience using ISL as a choreographic language. Performance and installation collaborate to create an immersive experience like never before.

Amanda Coogan presents solo performances of Movements from Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 at 1pm and 3pm

• Wednesday 11th & 18th October: Movement 1

• Thursday 12th & 19th October: Movement 2

• Friday 13th & 20th October: Movement 3

Coogan, Quigley, Jones and ensemble performs to the full score of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, including the Ode to Joy Chorus, between 1pm – 3pm

• Saturday 14th and 21st October: Full score

• Sunday 15th & 22nd October: Full score

The exhibition continues until Sunday 29 October. No booking is required, and admission is free as always.

Climate Action Street Party

Balbriggan - Sat 21st - 10am - Free

Join the Sceal art collective for a trip to the 70s and dust off those flares if you dare. See what the collective have to offer in terms of music, artefacts and street games!

From 10am to 5pm the event will be jam-packed with fun for the whole family. Appreciate the art of the celebrated L. S. Lowry with an exhibition and art competition, or enjoy music from St. Patrick’s Brass & Reed Band together with local acts Homebrew, Phil and BUSC’s ukelele troop.

Dress up in your best retro style and join in sustainable street games from Recreate. Plus, experience a unique living history display of original Smyth & Co items, and grab a bite from one of our food stalls.
