We’re rounded up five cool things happening this week in Dublin for Free!
I think we can all say, thank god the weather came back! I went to a very special showing in the RDS. Ireland 100: An old song re-sung was a production by RTE and the Department of Culture.
It was free to attend but was done on a raffle system. The show had Damien Dempsey, Dermot Kennedy, SELLO & Denise Chaila to name but a few. You can catch this show on RTÉ One on October 30th at 9.30pm. A perfect way to close out the Bank Holiday Weekend.

The Archive Within Us
Charleville Mall Library - Free - 10am - 5pm
Collaborators from Dublin, along with visual artist Claire Halpin and poet Colm Keegan, have created The Archive Within Us; an exhibition that delves into personal and shared memories. As part of The National Neighbourhood, a cultural programme aimed at connecting people to libraries, museums and other creative spaces within the city, the group explored the shared histories of the nation and developed their own stories. This exhibition is the result of the shared interest in history that was forged during the pandemic.

Friday 13th – Sunday 22nd October - Various Locations
Dublin Arts and Human Rights Festival celebrates the people who stand up for human rights and explores the role the arts can play in creating a more just world.
This fifth annual festival brings together artists and speakers from around the globe and across Ireland, featuring innovative events in Dublin, Kerry, Donegal and Cork. Human rights defenders both past and present will be featured, demonstrating the positive impact the arts can have in promoting equality, human rights, and diversity.
Thin Places: Clare Henderson & James Kirwan
Powerscourt Townhouse - Free - 3.30pm - 5pm - All Weekend
SO Fine Art Editions presents 'Thin Places': Clare Henderson and James Kirwan, an exhibition of vibrant paintings and mystical monoprints. Both artists explore mysterious and transitional spaces through their artwork, inspired by ancient Irish mythology and pre-history.
James, from Wexford, is a renowned muralist with international recognition, while Clare's work has been collected by the Office of Public Works and the National Gallery of Ireland. Don't miss this exciting show.
Fairy Tree Trail at Ardgillan Castle
Ardgillan Castle - Free
 | Ardgillan Castle has established an enchanting and educational Fairy Tree Trail, crafted in partnership with Fingal County Council and free of charge. Along the trail are informative signposts that feature information on the various tree varieties found in the park. Additionally, the Fairy Tree Trail Map and Quiz is available both online and at the reception of Ardgillan Castle for those wishing to learn more about the flora and fauna. |
An extra bonus is that lucky visitors may spot an elusive fairy making a home within the beautiful trees! In order to expand the magical woodland, the team have set up homes for new fairies, constructed by Balbriggan Men's Shed. The trail is open throughout the year, and is sure to be a wondrous and memorable experience for all who come to visit!
Halloween Art and Storytime Spooktacular
Today – Saturday 14th October - Blackrock Library
Join children’s illustrator and author Úna Woods for some Spooky Storytelling!
Úna will guide you through the process of how to develop a spooky character for a story of your own. She will be reading from her book, A Spooktacular Place to Be, and demonstrating how she crafted the creepy characters featured in the book.
Afterward, you'll have the chance to create a spine-tingling character of your own to become the protagonist or antagonist of a Spooky Story you're eager to write!
This event is suited towards kids aged 6-8, and all materials will be provided!
