What’s the story in Dublin this week?

This weekend was a write off for me! I’m still battling a little bit of a cold, even with all this glorious summer weather 🙃 But what did you get up to this weekend?

We’ve rounded up five cool things happening this week in Dublin for Free! Discover the buzz in Dublin this week! It’s National Heritage Week, a whole load of events over the country mark the week that is celebrated in over 50 countries. There are 221 free events in Dublin for Heritage week, but I thought it best not to cover them all!

This week we are covering solely Free events! We really love getting into the best cultural events and not just live music!

Heritage Week in Ireland

Monday August 14th to Sunday 20th - Venues around Ireland

National Heritage Week, organized by the Heritage Council, is a nationwide celebration of heritage that brings together communities, organizations, and enthusiasts to promote appreciation and conservation. Supported by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, and in partnership with FĂĄilte Ireland, this initiative showcases the value of heritage across Ireland.

At the local level, National Heritage Week is coordinated by Local Authority Heritage Officers, supported by various heritage groups and organizations. Collaborative partners such as the Office of Public Works, the Local Authority Waters Programme, and the Irish Landmark Trust contribute to the success of the event. The Irish Times and RTÉ Supporting the Arts are among the supporting partners.

Join in the celebration of Ireland's rich heritage during National Heritage Week, as people from all walks of life come together to appreciate, preserve, and share the treasures that define our shared history and cultural heritage.

Crash & Burn Comedy

August 17th - 7.30pm - Sin É - Free

Crash & Burn Comedy, a free stand up show on every Thursday in Sin É, is a great room to hear some jokes that no audience has heard before.

With resident hosts, Michael Sable and Nghia Mai, the show welcomes both seasoned veterans and up-and-coming acts to try out their jokes. Over the last year there have been some incredible names in the line up and you can check them all on their Instagram.

Easily the best deal in Dublin, so you have no excuses to not go out this Thursday. Like always to free events, you can reserve a spot here!

Sunday Kids Drop by Activities

Every Sunday - Botanic Gardens - Free

20 minute sessions start at 11.00am,11.30am, 3.30pm & 4.00pm

Get your kids to learn about the garden at the National Botanic Gardens every Sunday. Join their knowledgeable professionals for fun activities in the dedicated Children’s Erasmus Education Garden!

Each week they have a different activity to help your kids to become an expert gardener. Sow your own vegetable and flower seeds, play some nature games or re-use everyday things to create your own piece of eco-art all for free with thanks to the Botanic Gardens.

You can find what the activity will be on offer for your kids by checking out the Facebook page for National Botanic Gardens of Ireland. If you wish to bring a group, message the page and they can arrange a time for you.

This is free, on a first come, first served basis. So simply turn up and get down to some fun!

Gaeilge Gym

Every Monday - Online - 7pm

Speak Irish again! At Gaeilge Gym, they host online Irish groups every Monday at 7pm. As long as you have basic Irish, that is enough to give it a go. There is a friendly leader there to guide you and welcoming group members. The group talks about an interesting conversation theme for the hour. It's fun!

Dublin City Council presents Funtropolis

Saturday 19th & Sunday 20th - 12pm to 6pm - Mountjoy Square Park - Free

Fiesta Latina

Sunday 20th - 12pm to 12am - Kalabasa Market - Free

Come and enjoy the weekly event "Fiesta Latina"! đŸŒźđŸŒ¶ïžđŸč 

Every Sunday, from 12pm to 12am, there's a lively atmosphere with Latin music, karaoke, and an array of delectable Latin food and drinks from Mexico, Chile, Argentina, and Bolivia. It's an experience not to be missed! đŸŽ¶đŸŽ€đŸŽ‰ 

They invite you to join an incredible party animated by Johnny from 6:30 pm onwards. đŸŽ€ Come and celebrate the diversity and richness of Latino culture with this vibrant gathering.
